Elder Law Attorney James J. Sisto, a Bronx, NY native is a partner with the law firm of MARTIN HOCHBERG & CIANFLONE, LLP (“MHC”). Sisto practices from the firm’s North Adams office located at 33 Main Street where he has specialized for the past 35 years in estate planning & real estate law. Prior to joining MHC, Sisto was the founder of Berkshire Elder Law Center where he focused on elder matters and Medicaid planning where he has helped 1000s of clients protect their homes and savings while applying for Medicaid benefits when necessary.
Prior to starting his own practice in 1998 in North Adams, Jim worked for 7 years as an estate planning and real estate attorney for a small Pittsfield law firm but he also did divorces, litigation, bankruptcy and debt collection. “When I decided to start my own practice in North Adams, I promised myself that I would only practice in the areas I thoroughly enjoyed.”
Upon receiving his law degree from Duquesne University in 1986, he worked as a tax consultant for the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche. While there, he became a certified public accountant and received a Masters in Law in the area of taxation from New York University Law School in 1991. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Attorneys and a founding member of the National Alliance of Attorneys for Alzheimer’s Planning and joined Martin Hochbeg & Cianflone as a partner in 2025.
